Maxima, introduced in the year 1999, represents one of the first collections of the new Laurameroni brand. Bartoli Design has created a collection deliberately simple as a whole but with great attention to the details, that, more underlined by wooden finishes, give to any piece a character of particular exceptionality.

“Maxima” above all means: creativity in surfaces working. The capacity to re-create drawing inspiration from the wooden platforms used by the marble workers, which bear the apparently casual marks of discs used for cutting the marble, created the top in engraved solid wood slabs, characterized by a texture that is unique and always different.

The textures are random and of different depths. The greatest expression of the wood that vibrates on the surface: the light squeezes through the cuts and turns the furnishings into modern sculptures, one-off pieces like new icons of contemporary art.

Maxima represents the answer to that unsatisfied desire which all too frequently remains inside the designer in a constant endeavour to find a space were to recover a little expressive freedom and the deep down roots of craftsmanship.

“Maxima” is not only a collection of articles of furniture but a new way of conceiving furnishing. An extremely up-to-date style that proposes solutions from the most rigorous design, but never too rigid, thanks to the chosen wood.

In 2017 we wanted to reinvent this iconic finish born on solid wood and we had the idea of applying this new experimental coating surface called "Liquid Metal". This incredibly shiny finish gave new life to this unique pattern, which is still contemporary after 20 years.

The "Liquid Metal" process is an artisanal and mostly hand made process involving several production steps. We start from the manufacturing of the furniture or wall panel in carved raw wood.

We then apply different layers of resins on the surface to guarantee stability and resistance followed by smoothing the surfaces with abrasive papers.

The next and most important step is the preparation of the metal powder with verified grain size and mixing with chemical products to obtain a casting metal at a lower temperature than the natural casting process.

When the metal powder is ready we proceed with the atomization and spraying on the wooden surface to obtain an irregular, porous and opaque effect, like a terracotta casting.

The last steps involve cleaning the surface metal crust and repeated smoothing with abrasive papers and feltings by using suitable pastes to bring back a shiny look and smoothness to the touch.

The finishing process is the application of nanotechnological resins and waxes to stop the natural oxidation of the metal without compromising its naturalness.
