Milan Design City 2020: Intarsia la magia del legno
We are glad to invite you to "Intarsia la magia del legno" exhibition at our Milan showroom during the Milano Design City event from September 28 to October 10.
Under the patronage of the Municipality of Milan, LAURAMERONI together with TABU Veneers will exhibit a selection of limited edition inlaid sideboards from the "Intarsia Collection" and a capsule collection of dresses and jewels made entirely with natural veneers coupled with fabric.
LAURAMERONI and TABU Veneers express with products and textures the Italian excellence in researching and proposing new ideas and artistic works.
Periodically Laurameroni offers established artists to join a club that involves names in design, fashion and art, such as Aldo Rossi, Emilio Tadini, Robert und Trix Haussmann, Jorrit Tornquist, Romeo Gigli, Emilio Isgrò, Aoi Huber
Kono, Lucio Del Pezzo, Bartoli Design, Robert Hromec, Fausta Squatriti, who created a design each to be faithfully reproduced, according to the inlay technique, on a sideboard edited in a numbered limited edition.
In the exhibition LAURAMERONI presents also a collection of prodigious dresses woven with very thin "sheets" of wood, created thanks to the collaboration of Tabu and the teachers and students of the Fashion Course of the Da Vinci - Ripamonti Higher Institute of Como. The mini capsule collection developed with Tabu includes dresses inspired by the geometries that have always excited famous artists and brands. The geometries are deconstructed and interpreted from multiple points of view, thus creating different planes: micro and maxi geometries intertwine in a perfect balance of colors. A mix and match between fabric and wood, softness and rigidity in visual harmony.
The first three-dimensional works by Marcello Jori date back to 1989. They are sculptures - wooden paintings, faceted like crystals, on which the artist, playing with lights and shadows, paints enchanted architectures that multiply and transform according to the light that illuminates them. "Dentro il Paesaggio" represents his first three-dimensional work made with the inlay technique.

A smooth rectangular, it does not have to be discussed, it is part of the aesthetic perception just like a tree, a sunset, a starry sky: pieces of nature to be transformed. A smooth rectangular like a block of ice, included into a rose garden that surrounds it on all the five sides. The rose is the only witness of the garden’s flowering, where its two thorns have become drops of blood, to remind us that beauty might hurt, and should be handled with care.

With the use of different dyed veneers, the artist made a particular colored impression, and so affected the way we perceive the piece. You can listen to silence and learn from it. It has a quality and a dimension all its own. Silence is a source of great strength and a journey of discovery at the same time. It gives meaning to our time. Be different. Be unique. Be silenzio.

Together with his traditional “cancellature” (erasures) they reflect the vision of a world where nature and culture are perfectly balanced, as if to exorcize the risks of a technological intelligence that is too often satisfied with artifice and fears to face a reality that is unchangeable, despite its apparent mutability.

This project by Ugo Nespolo represents, against a black lacquered background, a linear sequence of brightly coloured figures arranged on pieces perfectly joint together like in a jigsaw puzzle, within harmoniously composed chromatic fields.
